Of all the people in the Bible, I think I can most relate to Jonah. For many years I have clearly heard God’s call upon my life and in disobedience “fled to Tarshish”. I have justly spent some dark days “…in the stomach of a great fish”. But how rich in mercy is God toward me that I can now say, as Jonah did, “But Thou hast brought up my life from the pit, O Lord my God.”? I share this testimony with you that God might receive the glory due Him for his abundant grace and to encourage you, knowing that He is undoubtedly calling you to some good work which He has prepared for you in Christ.
This last month I have begun, in faith, to work full time in pro-life ministry. The three-fold mission of this work can be paraphrased out of Psalm 78 (v.6-11)
- Plead for the lives of our preborn neighbors. “…that they may arise” v.6
This is the primary focus. To love our preborn neighbors and plead for their lives, that they might be born. This is done by being present at the place of their deaths (Planned Parenthood) and offering living hope (Jesus) and practical help (sidewalk counseling and referrals to the Pregnancy Resource Center ) to the moms and dads who have believed a lie.
- To proclaim forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ. “That they should put their confidence in God” v.7
As Peter testified at Pentecost, “For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call to Himself.” (Acts 2:39) so the gospel is proclaimed in word and deed to all: moms, dads, abortion clinic employees, “street” people (there are many), and passersby.
- To preach repentance in the Church for our toleration of abortion. “The sons of Ephraim were archers equipped with bows, yet they turned back in the day of battle” v.9
Some may not be willing to accept this, nevertheless, it is true: Abortion will end when the Church obeys the Gospel of Jesus Christ! There is only one solution for sin: The Precious Blood of Jesus. How desperately the world needs us, His ambassadors, to believe this and turn from our wicked ways! (2Chron.7:14) As the Lord leads and the Spirit enables I will preach this message at every opportunity; the love of Christ constrains me.
God has already shown that His arm is not too short to save – three moms have been referred to the P.R.C. already (one of these I can confirm has chosen life!). I have also been able to share the Gospel with many on the streets. Praise The Lord! I thank all of you who have entered into this work already through prayer and support.
